Big bids expected for vintage street sign!

A VINTAGE street sign that once marked an intersection on Wall Street near the New York Stock Exchange could attract some serious money.

The enamel ”Broad St” and ”Wall St” sign will be offered at Christie’s on Tuesday. The auctioneer’s pre-sale estimate is $US60,000 ($A69,100) to $US80,000 ($A92,100).

Look what you get for $45m in the Sydney property market

Altona, a waterfront house in Sydney’s Point Piper, often dubbed the home of conspicuous consumption, has been listed for sale with $45 million hopes.

The house last sold for $28 million in 2002. Its latest listing seeks to restore the property as Sydney’s record-setting property.

Its owners, Deke and Eve Miskin, have decided to sell the eight-bedroom, seven-bathroom house but keep the vacant adjoining block on which they intend to build unless they can get a further $24 million.

Homes worth more on a STREET than on a road

Addresses containing the word "street" are worth $100,000 more than those ending in "road".

But people who live in avenues, esplanades or parades are doing as much as $400,000 better.

Analysis of NSW home values based on thoroughfare types has shown the average price of a house on a street is $516,000, compared with $409,000 for a dwelling on a road.

Boulevards, avenues and esplanades have average prices hitting $511,000, $649,000 and $809,000 respectively, while those on a parade come in at an average of $641,000.

Elite Hong Kong land auction fetches $1.5b!

A rare residential site on Hong Kong’s ritzy Victoria Peak fetched $US1.3 billion ($A1.5 billion) at auction on Wednesday, boosting one of the world’s most dizzying luxury property markets.

The plot of land at 103 Mount Nicholson Road, which offers a panoramic view of Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour, was snapped up by Nan Fung Group after attracting nearly 50 bids at this year’s fourth government land sale.
